It’s no news that a great wardrobe equals confidence boost, that’s why it’s essential to build the perfect wardrobe for yourself, so every time you step out, you strut with your head held high.
Before now, I used to struggle with having an overflowing wardrobe, my closet was filled with clothes to last three people all year round. It was always exhausting looking for what to wear that I always end up wearing the same five outfits. Imagine having a wardrobe full of clothes but never having anything to wear, since you’re reading this, I guess you can relate.

Every time I try to rearrange my wardrobe, I come across pieces that I haven’t worn in years and instead of giving or throwing it out, I just place them back with plans of wearing them later, but you already know how that ends (I end up forgetting them till the next wardrobe makeover). It really was an endless cycle until I decided I’ve had enough.
I came up with a plan that I’m going to share with you in this article, So, if you’re struggling with a wardrobe revamp or you’re looking to build your wardrobe from scratch, stay with me.
Here are the tips that helped me attain my perfect wardrobe.
Avoid Impulse Buying
This is the first step because it’s the reason you have too many clothing items you don’t need in the first place. Map out a specific time to shop for clothes and accessories, write down or make a mental note of the specific items you need.
Next time you’re walking past that store, and you come across a beautiful dress ask yourself,
“Do I need this for any occasion in the next few weeks?”
“If I don’t get this, is there something else i can wear?“
If your answers are Yes and No respectively, then go ahead to purchase, but if not, I’ll advise you to walk right past that store and keep it moving.
Declutter
Declutter! Declutter! Declutter!
I can’t scream this loud enough! This is the best way to get rid of items you don’t really need and make room for what’s necessary.
To do this, empty your wardrobe, clothes, shoes, and other accessories.
Make two piles, one for stuff you use often (at least once a month) and the other pile for pieces you don’t use often.
For the pile of fashion pieces you don’t use often select the ones that are still useable, give them out then trash the rest. I know this might be difficult but I promise you, you don’t need them.
Moving on to the pile you use, proceed to organize your wardrobe.
Purchase Essentials
The last but definitely not the least is purchasing essentials. There are a couple of wardrobe essentials that every lady should have. Having these items in your wardrobe guarantees you always have an outfit to wear. Let’s take a look at them.
10 Wardrobe Essentials
1. White T-Shirt
A plain white t-shirt is a versatile piece that you can dress up or down. For a casual look, you can pair it with jeans and sneakers. For a more polished and formal outfit, you can pair it with a blazer and heels.

A white t-shirt is one piece that will never go out of style.
2.Little Black Dress (LBD)
This is another classic must-have for every woman.

LBD’s are timeless, elegant, and versatile. They can be worn to a variety of events, like a formal dinner party, a night out with friends, or a romantic dinner date.
3. Blazer
Blazers are good for adding structure and sophistication to an outfit. Whether you’re wearing it over a dress or with jeans and a t-shirt, a blazer will definitely elevate your look.

When purchasing blazers, go for neutral colors, you can also get ones with a pop of colors or patterns depending on your purchasing power. If you can afford then get the ones listed above, they definitely will come in handy.
4. Denim
A pair of denim jeans is also a wardrobe essential. Denim jeans are comfortable, long-lasting, and can be worn for a variety of events. Casual fit? check, Business-casual fit? also check.

Whether you go for a skinny or wide-legged pair, depends solely on your personal style. You can do both as well.
5. Black Leggings
A pair of black leggings is another wardrobe essential that always comes in handy. A quick run to the store? a casual walk in the park? movie night? You can always fit a black leggings outfit into any of these occasions.

6. Neutral Heels
This is one wardrobe staple you shouldn’t joke with as it will save you from time to time. If you’re in a hurry and don’t have time to mule over what fancy shoe to wear, trust me, a neutral heel will never go wrong.

7. Sneakers
What’s a list of wardrobe essentials without sneakers? A dead-on-arrival list!
Sneakers are definitely a must-have for every lady. Your casual outfits will pop a lot better with sneakers.

Now, whether you go for simple sneakers or fancy ones, that’s entirely up to you.
8. Tote Bag
A tote bag is a practical and versatile piece that can be used for running errands, school, or work. It’s both stylish and functional.

9. Evening Purse
This is a must-have for every lady. As a lady, you definitely get invited to formal events every once in a while, so yes, an evening purse should always be readily available in your wardrobe.

10. Statement Jewelry
A statement piece of jewelry adds a touch of personality to your outfit. When picking out jewelry, go for necklaces, earrings, or bracelets that you’re more comfortable with and pieces that go well with your style.
For instance, if you’re more of a corporate woman, go for simple pieces as business outfits don’t require loud jewelry. If, on the other hand, you’re more of an eccentric fashionista, then loud jewelries are more your style.

Please note that wardrobe essentials may vary according to personal style, but so far, these are the basics. Feel free to throw in pieces that are essential to your lifestyle.
Building the perfect wardrobe is not an easy job but it’s achievable and in the long run, you’d be glad you did.
