How To Get Smooth Underarms Like Celebrities

Have you ever wondered how all celebrities have flawless skin? How everything about them seems to always be in check, be it their outfit, hairstyles, accessories, and the likes, giving them this aura of perfection.

Truth be told, most of us have more than once in our lives desired our celebrity for their looks. It’s unearthly how everything from their style statement to their beauty look is always on point.

When I was much younger, I remember trying to be like my favorite celebrity so I tried to copy everything she did. The way she walks, how she talks, down to her choice of clothes (my idea of it anyway) I’m sure you can relate to this ( I can’t be the only one)

The most fascinating part about my then-favorite celebrity was when she comes on stage wearing sleeveless or tiny strap outfits showing off her long arms and whenever she raises her hands while performing, I was always wowed by how smooth and unblemished her underarms were. I mean how can a human be so perfect.

Well, over time, I did my research and discovered the secret to having such smooth underarms. I’ll be sharing them with you in this article.

If you’ve been struggling with rough underarms and you want to experience what it feels like to have lustrous and smooth underarms like your favorite celebrity stars, stick around;I’ve got you covered.

The underarm or armpit is a more sensitive part of the body when compared to the rest of your body’s skin therefore, they require extra care. Here’s a run-down of how to care for your armpit in order to attain flawless underarms.

Hydration

The first step is to keep the underarm skin hydrated at all times to prevent black/dark spots. To achieve this, rub some moisturising lotion or oil into your skin before waxing or shaving. This will help reduce the irritation. Coconut oil can also be applied to ensure a healthy underarm.

Avoid Spraying Perfumes after Shaving/ Waxing

It is advised not to spray perfume and deodorant directly on the skin of your underarm immediately after waxing or shaving because products like that tend to contain alcohol and may lead to unhealthier underarm skin.

Wear Loose-fitting Clothes

Avoid tight-fitting clothes. Resist the urge to disregard this point as it is very important. Tight clothes cause more irritation than you think.

Directly Treat In-grown Hair

You must be able to specify the direction of your body hair growth because if your hair removal doesn’t follow your hair’s natural growth direction, you’re increasing the chance of getting ingrown hair.

To treat in-grown hairs, you can make use of a non-drying, anti-inflammatory spot treatment. Get one that works specifically for existing ingrown hairs and bumps.

You can also try out these natural remedies for ingrown hair treatment.

Use A Physical Exfoliant

A proper exfoliation routine is regularly required for your underarms, just like any other body part. Exfoliation helps your skin to eliminate dead cells and breathe freely.

When exfoliating, you’re advised to use a mild scrub for your underarms. This is because, as I earlier stated, the skin is more sensitive than the rest of your body.

Use A Mild Chemical Exfoliant

You should also exfoliate with a mild chemical exfoliant (emphasis on ‘mild’). Be extra careful with this. Here’s how to check if the chemical exfoliant you’re about to use is mild or not.

Patch test the product you’ll be using to ensure you don’t have a reaction.

As opposed to using a leave-on product, which could be a serum or lotion, I recommend using either a water-based toner or something you can leave on for a few minutes and then rinse off in the shower.

A water-based product won’t be as strong and therefore are, less likely to irritate the sensitive skin under your arms. Please avoid using exfoliating acids after shaving! That will always cause irritation.

Underarm Peeling

To achieve this, you can make use of chemical peels that contains salicylic acid, vitamin C, glycolic acid, azelaic acid, trichloroacetic acid, or lactic acid.

However, before you start with stronger peels, based on professional advice, you should start priming your skin with topical creams and then start with milder peels.

If your skin accepts these peels and does not react to them, you may use stronger peels.

You must remember not to rush treatments as they can easily irritate the skin. While using these treatments, don’t forget to hydrate your skin with ceramides and other moisturizers.

Look Into Prescription Options

If at-home or OTC remedies aren’t working, you can talk to your dermatologist to find out more about these options.

Causes Of Rough Underarms

For every reaction, there must be a cause. If you have been experiencing rough underarms, one of these might be the reason.

The common causes of unhealthy underarms include;

  • Irritation ( This is the most common cause of rough underarms)
  • Excess sweating
  • Puberty
  • Hormonal changes
  • Gender transition
  • Diet; as your body breaks down food, chemical compounds reach your apocrine glands, where they can be secreted as body odor.

Apocrine glands are scent emitting glands that become active during puberty and are highly sensitive to hormonal fluctuations. Apocrine glands contribute to stinky pits in your underarm.

Eccrine glands, which are all over your body but concentrated in the underarms, produce liquid. When you sweat, the bacteria and other microorganisms that are a healthy part of your skin become moist and give off a smell, and this can result in rough underarms.

The best way to keep a healthy underarm is to practice good hygiene. Shower daily; wash your armpits with anti-bacterial soap, use antiperspirant, shave your armpit, wear free and breathable clothing, and adjust your diet.

If you try all of that and still have breakouts in your armpits, try an antimicrobial wash with 4% benzoyl peroxide. They can remove folliculitis-causing bacteria and fungus.

Conclusion

It is easy to neglect your armpits since they’re often hidden from view. Treating armpit concerns can be exasperating because our underarm never really catch a break.

Between constant shaving, sweating, and fretting from daily movements, it can be quite difficult to get over irritation.

But if you practice all I’ve outlined in this article, you will be saying goodbye to rough underarms in a couple of weeks, and you can finally slay that sleeveless outfit you’ve always wanted to!

Do well to leave a comment if you have any more questions or concerns, I’ll reply as soon as possible.
