Does Vaseline Help With Stretch Marks?

Having stretch marks can be pretty annoying. It makes you conscious of your outfit; you’ll likely always select clothes that will cover them up, especially if you’ve got them in an exposed area like your arms or legs.

More often than not, having stretch marks denies you the luxury of dressing however you please. Although some still go ahead to flaunt theirs, a great majority of people who have stretch marks are not comfortable with exposing them.

Most times, stretch marks leave people feeling insecure about their body which in turn negatively affects their self-esteem.

If you fall into this category, cheer up, there’s a solution!

For clarity: Stretch marks are long, tiny stripes or lines formed when the skin is eventually stretched. They mainly occur on body parts such as the hips, thighs, flank, breast, upper arm, waist, stomach, and butt.

Causes Of Stretch Marks

Before we go into what works and what doesn’t work as a treatment for stretch marks, let’s first talk about the causes. This will help you understand what should ideally serve as a cure.

Now, what causes stretch marks? There are natural and artificial causes of stretch marks;

Natural Causes

Stretch marks occur when the skin returns to its normal state after a duration of profound growth, usually due to weight gain/loss, puberty and even pregnancy. The majority of women experience stretch marks during pregnancy.

Stretch marks seemingly affect more women than men. This is because most women get them during pregnancy, and research has proven that 8 out of 10 girls get them during puberty while 4 out of 10 boys get them during puberty.

Artificial Causes

You can also get stretch marks by applying skincare products that are harmful to the skin.

Moving on, having stretch marks does not necessarily mean that you are on the plump side. Slim people can get stretch marks too.

Stretch marks are permanent like any other scars, but you can treat them to make them less visible. Treatment of stretch marks can also lessen the itch.

However, before treating stretch marks, it is advised to consult your doctor if you’re pregnant because some products contain harmful constituents which can be detrimental to your baby.

Does Vaseline Help With Stretch Marks?

To answer the question; does vaseline cure stretch marks? Yes, it does. It helps to clear the visibility of stretch marks from your skin.

Vaseline blue seal petroleum jelly is an ideal medicine for everything from first aid to deep hydration and moisturization.

Vaseline is created from a mixture of mineral oils and waxes that heals your skin and retains moisture.

Vaseline can be used for dry skin, minor burns, chaffing, and sore/chapped lips. It can also be used to treat itchy skin.

In conclusion, Vaseline does clear stretch because it keeps the skin moisturized and reduces itching.

How To Apply Vaseline On Stretch Marks

It’s quite simple. All you need to do is scoop a portion of vaseline on your palm, apply it to the area of your body that has stretch marks, and then rub it in circular motions. Continue massaging for about 15-20 seconds.

Other Natural Remedies For Stretch Marks

Other natural remedies for stretch marks include;

  • Vitamin A can be found in a skincare product known as ‘retinoid.’
  • Aloe Vera; has a long history as a natural skin treatment. The jelly on the insides of the leaves of the aloe Vera plant can be applied to the skin directly to soothe and moisturize.
  • Virgin coconut oil has some known benefits for the skin, and it can help maintain your skin’s protective barrier.
  • Sugar; sugar is a popular exfoliator. It gently scrubs away dead skin, thereby reducing the visibility of stretch marks.

Conclusion

It is essential to understand that no single treatment works for everyone.

Since they’re all natural remedies for stretch marks, there are no side effects. So you can try any of them out and let me know which works for you in the comment section.
