The alarm goes off, you hit snooze a few too many times and suddenly you’re scrambling to get ready for the day, we’ve all been there.
Busy mornings can be a whirlwind, leaving only a little time for a full makeup routine. That’s why I’ve perfected a 10-minute makeup routine that will have you looking pretty and ready to go about your day without sacrificing precious time.
As someone who has a messed-up sleep schedule, I stay up longer at night and sleep creeps in in the early hours of the morning. I’ll wake up staring at the clock in panic then end up going in late because I have to wear makeup.
I know you’re wondering why I can’t go in bare faced. Well, I work in the beauty industry, so I have to at least touch-up my face.
After series of queries, I had two options; either I started waking up earlier or I learnt how to do my makeup faster. If you’re reading this, you already know which it is.
In this article, I’ll show you how I was able to achieve that, so stay tuned!
Contrary to what you may be thinking, I didn’t exactly become the flash. Instead, I developed a makeup routine that doesn’t take more than 10 minutes.
Let’s get right to it!
10 Minutes Makeup Routine
Here are the items you need for this routine.
- Cleanser
- Moisturizer
- Sunscreen
- Primer
- Foundation
- Concealer
- Tinted brow gel
- Powder
- Bronzer
- lip gloss
Let me walk you through the process.
1.Cleanse
I usually start my routine by cleansing my skin with a facial cleanser and gentle cleansing pads. This is the first step in prepping my skin for the makeup.
2.Moisturize
The next step is to moisturize my skin. Moisturizers hydrates and helps keep my skin soft and supple. Even though it sounds so simple, it can make a huge difference in how your skin looks and feels for the rest of the day.
3.Sunscreen
After cleansing and moisturizing, the next step is to apply sunscreen. This helps protect your screen from sunlight.
4.Primer
Primer provides a smooth long-lasting base for your makeup. Applying primer ensures that your makeup stays on through your busy schedule.
5.Foundation
The next step is to apply foundation. Apply only a thin layer so your makeup can look as light as possible.
6.Concealer
Next, apply concealer underneath your eyes to cover those dark circles if you have any. If you don’t apply anyway to highlight your face. Also, if you have dark spots on your face, apply your concealer to cover those pesky dark spots.
I’ll advice you purchase a lightweight concealer, so your makeup doesn’t look too heavy.
7.Brows
It’s a simple makeup routine so instead of full brow with concealed edges, I just tint my already carved brows with brow gel, brush it out with a spoolie brush making it look as natural as possible.
8.Lashes
If you don’t have already installed lashes, go ahead and fix on faux lashes. Inasmuch as it’s a simple makeup routine, lashes make your face pop (with or without makeup) so it’s a good idea for a minimalist makeup routine such as this one.
If you have naturally long lashes, you can skip this step. Just apply a little mascara and you’re good to go.
9.Powder
Apply your powder lightly with your powder brush till you get a smooth look.
10.Lips
Since it’s usually a workday for me, I go for nude-colored lipsticks and a bit of lipgloss.
11.Bronzer
Apply your bronzer to your cheekbones as lightly as possible. This would give you that subtle glow.
Remember it’s a quick and simple makeup routine so apply too much bronzer defeats the entire purpose.
Voila! Your makeup is ready before you know it!
